Creating a Student Wiki
Don't Stress! It's not as hard as it sounds, even if you're a html novice. The great thing about Wiki is that it does most of the work for you!
Creating a link for your Student Wiki: See the side bar on the right hand side? You can edit that! Just click edit, add your characters name at the bottom. Then you need to turn it into a link. Highlight the name, then go up to 'link' in the panel at the top. Wiki will automatically create a link to a wiki page. Select ok, then save your edits.
Creating the page: Easiest thing you have to do! Just click on the link on the side bar and it will automatically ask if you want to create a new page. To start with a blank canvas, choose 'No Template' and proceed with editing your page.
Can I upload pictures to the wiki? You can, but Wiki has a 10meg limit for the group so, we strongly advise people to host their images in photobucket and then insert the images using the code they supply.
Woah! What code and how do I do that? When I try it just shows the words and not the picture: If you're using photobucket, copy the html code they give you. Then on your wiki, hit the 'source' button at the top of the page - that shows all the html code for your wiki. Paste the code into that, then select the source button again. Now you have your picture and you can move it around like Wiki is a simple word program.
Does my Wiki need to look the same as everyone elses? No! That's the best part - you can make your characters wiki as simple or as complex as you want. Those that know html might want to do a little more, those that don't might just want the basics. It's totally up to you.
What exactly is a student Wiki?: Think of it as a MySpace or Facebook page for your character. It can tell people things that may not appear in their bio, including pictures of family and friends, of their favorite things - whatever you want! The possibilities are endless.
